EPIC-CV07 Fanless Low-Power EPIC Board for Industrial and Building Automation2012-12-03
AAEON launched a new onboard Intel® Atom™ D2550/N2600 fanless EPIC board with Intel® NM10 chipset. It comes equipped with a solid thermal spreader for optimal heat dissipation, and offers rich features and connectivity for Industrial and Building Automation applications among many others. The EPIC-CV07 features the latest high efficiency 3rd Generation Intel® Atom™ D2550/N2600 dual core low-power processors that has integrated graphics for dual display support, and supports a maximum of 4GB DDR3 800/1066 of system memory.
The Intel® Atom™ D2550 1.86GHz dual core processor brings new and powerful capabilities to the fanless EPIC SBC, making it a powerful small form-factor embedded platform for today’s industrial applications that desires high performance in small packages. The Intel® Atom™ N2600 1.6GHz dual core fanless processor is equally rich in features, and allows the EPIC SBC to be reliable in high temperature and dusty environments.
The EPIC-CV07 offers a rich array of I/O interfaces, with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one CRT/DVI with resolution support of up to 1920x1200, dual 24-bit single channel LVDS (for D2550 processor) or one 18-bit single channel LVDS (for N2600 processor), one SATA 3.0Gb/s interface, eight serial ports, one optional parallel port or 16-bit programmable digital I/O, seven USB2.0 ports, one 12V DC input, and onboard support for a 4/5-wire resistive touch screen. The EPIC-CV07 offers two video outputs at any one time, 2W audio amplifier (optional), and provides one Mini Card, one mSATA (Half-size) expansion slot, and one PCI-104 interface for additional expansion features. With Intel® 32-bit and Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator support for DirectX 10 and OpenGL 3.0, the EPIC-CV07 is able to handle complex and intense 2D/3D graphic demands without an additional graphic card. Hardware status monitoring, Wake-on-LAN and Watchdog Timer with 1 to 255 levels can all be utilized to ensure secure operation of the product.

Whenever Microsoft® Windows® platform is used, customers can easily create their own user interface without additional coding simply by downloading the AAEON-developed Hi-Safe program. AAEON offers customization services for system developers, and supports all common operating systems such as Windows® XP, Windows® 7 and Linux Fedora.
Status Monitoring using Hi-Safe
AAEON Hi-Safe is a free and powerful hardware-based program geared toward SDKs for UIs running Microsoft® Windows® Operating systems. It provides an easy way to develop the end user’s own UI software to monitor vital system information such as those for the processor, RAM and VGA. It monitors received data from the Super I/O, fan, temperature and voltage, offers configuration options for Digital I/O pin direction and data, provides watchdog timer and fan speed settings, SMBus base address detection and device ID settings, optional monitoring of UPS data information and offers two modes for backlight display control if one uses the LVDS interface. Based on the user interface SDK, no coding is needed and customers can create their own customized user interface by downloading the function codes provided by AAEON.
