AAEON Introduces the AIS-Series, Advanced Embedded Servers to Power Modern Day Intelligent Automation Systems2013-01-02
AAEON has released two compact and powerful Embedded Servers. The AIS-E1 and AIS-E2 are ideal solutions for Building Automation, Factory Automation, IP Surveillance, advanced Digital Signage and Kiosks. Designed with upgradable socket type multi-core Intel® Core™ iSeries processors under 45W, these embedded servers offer superb performance and multiple high definition video playbacks, while consuming minimal power.
The AIS-E1 embedded server, with a built-in Intel® QM67 chipset, supports the 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7/ i5/ Celeron® processors and two 204-pin dual-channel DDR3 1066/1333/1600 MHz SODIMM up to 16GB. Featuring superior connectivity with six USB2.0 ports, dual displays via VGA, LVDS and DVI-D, HDMI supporting full HD dual display, two Gigabit Ethernet, one COM port (expandable to six), three audio ports, two KB/MS ports, the AIS-E1 provides faster connectivity and better efficiency with its rich I/Os. The AIS-E1 offers four 2.5” HDD/SSD, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10, one onboard CFast™ SSD and one Slim ODD bay. Optional wireless features can be added via a PCIe 3.0 mini-Card slot that supports 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth™ 3.0. With a 12V DC-in and measuring at 315mm x 70mm x 300mm, the desktop AIS-E1 offers both performance and rich features for most automation requirements.
The AIS-E2 embedded server is an upgraded version of AIS-E1, built to be more compact at only 195mm x 70mm x 220mm. The AIS-E2, with a built-in Intel® QM77 chipset, supports 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7/ i5/ Celeron® processors and two 204-pin dual-channel DDR3 1066/1333/1600 MHz SODIMM up to 16GB. Most of the connectivity features remains the same as the AIS-E1 model, except for four faster 5Gb/sec USB3.0 ports and one additional Display Port. It alos supports a maximum of two 2.5” HDD/SSD, due to its smaller enclosure. The smaller dimension of the AIS-E2 makes it easier for installation in places or within systems with space constraints.
“AAEON embedded servers are built to be cost effective, providing greater performance and richer features in a compact desktop enclosure for today’s automation applications,” says Randy Chang, Product Manager of AAEON’s Industrial Systems Division. “These AIS-series systems are designed for quick installation of CPU cooler brackets, CFast™ memory and miniPCIe modules via its bottom cover lid and is highly customizable to customer requirements.”
Intelligent Remote Device Management and Device Monitoring
For effective remote device management, the free AAEON Hi-Manager program can be installed on each deployed AIS embedded server, allowing BIOS-level remote management from a remote console. Hi-Manager can also be installed on an AIS embedded server to monitor other AAEON devices. For individual device monitoring, the free Hi-Safe program with its user-friendly monitoring interface can be installed.
Group Management using Hi-Manager
The AAEON Hi-Manager is a powerful tool based on the Intel® Active Management Technology 8.0 (iAMT 8.0) and has backward compatibility with earlier versions of iAMT. This allows users to locate all iAMT devices in the intranet, power, set and manage On/Off target devices remotely, recover systems, remote KVM management and access to target device hardware information for asset management. Hi-Manager can be installed on all AAEON platforms and can remotely manage AAEON client devices that use Intel® QM77, QM67 and QM57 chipsets and run Microsoft® Windows® XP, Window® 7/8 Operating Systems.
Status Monitoring using Hi-Safe
AAEON Hi-Safe is a free and powerful hardware-based program geared toward SDKs for UIs running Microsoft® Windows® Operating systems. It provides an easy way to develop the end user’s own UI software to monitor vital system information such as those for the processor, RAM and VGA. It monitors received data from the Super I/O, fan, temperature and voltage, offers configuration options for Digital I/O pin direction and data, provides watchdog timer and fan speed settings, SMBus base address detection and device ID settings, optional monitoring of UPS data information and offers two modes for backlight display control if one uses the LVDS interface. Based on the user interface SDK, no coding is needed and customers can create their own customized user interface by downloading the function codes provided by AAEON.
